The driver compatible with your OS should be "HP LaserJet USB (DOT4) communications driver for Windows".

You have to download it form HP's site.

Detailed instructions by HP can be found here : https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03515691 .

If you have followed these and still cannot install the driver, then provide us with more info, such as error messages.

You will never be able to install this printer via USB as it is not compatible with Windows 10.

If you still want to use this printer, you need to buy a HP external print server to make your printer as a network printer.

The one above is likely to work from my experience.
Just  HP doing business as usual.
If you want long time support for newer OS's ,HP is not your friend.
Brother ,Xerox and Epson are all much better supported in the long run.
Agreed.

If you do a Google search for USB (DOT4), you will know that it is an obsolete technology which will not work for Windows 8 or above.
@Jackie Man
HP says "HP LaserJet USB (DOT4) communication driver for Windows 8 and Higher (64-bit)" - why would they claim that if it won't work?
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/29048804/HP-Color-LaserJet-5550-printer-works-with-win-7-OS-but-not-on-win-10-via-USB-connection.html

It will only be a valid claim if HP help you in case you cannot install the printer. I have not yet seen any case where HP will help you. They just want to sell you a new MFP.

The answer is HP will not help you and I have a proven workaround. I seldom rely on claim to do my troubleshooting work

Do you only rely on claim from the vendor to do your work?

Let the author verify it.
Using an external print server will not work as the network scanner twain driver is not supported.

I haven't sold an HP printer in over 10 years as they have been nothing but contemptible  in terms of support and marketing lock in.

Overpriced and under supported.

Sure. At least user can print is the basic requirement. Using USB (Dot 4) can do scanning but no printing is the problem.

Objection. HP has drivers for it. I linked those. They are labelled "windows 8 and higher" and we use those here.

Contradictory answers selected together... I wonder why.
