I cannot type a URL or type a search in FF or Chrome. I can in Edge which is what I am using now.
My AV is Kaspersky Total Defense, and I am beginning to think that is the culprit.

Did you try to reset Chrome ?
1. Click on the menu tab (located in the top right of your browser)
2. Click on More Tools and click on Clear Browsing Data
3. In this menu, ensure the following options are ticked:
- Browsing History
- Download History
- Cookies and other site plug-in data
- Cached images and files
4. Then click on Clear Browsing Data
Uninstall and reinstalling Chrome is another option.
Also create a restore point and Disable or Uninstall your Antivirus and verify the status.

Sometimes something extraneous can cause this, like plugging in a USB stick.

Ramin,
No success with 1 through 4, haven't tried uninstalling Chrome or disabling Kaspespersky yet. Will do so and report back. FF is preferred browser as I need it for Ubiquiti Wireless.
Thomas,
No USB sticks active.
Did you shutdown your PC, Power on and retest the issue ?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
Restarted, exited Kaspersky, ran Safe Mode in FF, restarted with add-ons disabled. Could type for brief time then not anymore?? Very puzzling, still can only enter text in Edge.

Ramin,
I did not run "Upgrade this PC Now", I ran the Tweaking.com repair.
I can type entries now, but not quite right yet. So when I get a chance I will run that.
