Dell Compellent SC4020 not accepting new Unassigned disk

I just put a 1TB (Official/expensive) Dell disk in as an additional disk, and when clicking 'Manage Unassigned Disks'
I get this message:

Is this the Dell disk with the dell firmware?? Or did you buy the "dell" drive from a 3rd party?   Assuming it is the right disk with correct firmware ... then perhaps the disk arrived DOA.   Run the diagnostics for it.

It's brand new from our VAR...the really expensive kind..

I did some research, and a number of folk "fixed" it by updating the  Compellent's Firmware...
Wonder if that's my issue as well..?

well, scratch that : Updates are...up to date
maybe I'll go your route & see if the drive is not compatible or something..
