How to make a web based program to open on google chrome by default- When users click the desktop shortcut.

Hi

We have Windows 2012 active directory server and windows 7 clients PCs and have subscribed for a web base program . Around 50 users will be taking the test on this program.
There is audio on this program and the audio dosent work on internet explorer and works only oly on the google chrome browser. The software vedor has also said that sound will work only on Google chrome.

We have Internet explorer and google chrome installed on the user workstations and i have put the shortcut for the URL on every user desktop ( for this web base program).  When users open the shortcut , it opens in the internet explorer.
Please let me know if there is a way to set up , that when users clik the desktp shortcut , the program open in google chrome.

Any tutorials will be great.
Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If i create a shortcut by right clicking the desktop - create a shortcut and click next , it says  C:\program cannot be found

C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe https://www.myurl.com

also tried C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe https:\\www.myurl.com

Or just use GPO and set the default browser for the clients to chrome?

HTTP - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Associations\UrlAssociations\http
HTTPS - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Associations\UrlAssociations\https
What you can do is create a GPO to update these two registry settings for your users. It's been a long time since I tried this but I believe you have to import the registry settings (into GPMC) from a machine which is already configured to use Google Chrome as a default browser into GPO > User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry

Even better and gives a location in AD to do this :-)
