how can I open .xml.gz file

how can I open .xml.gz file

I went on a website robots.txt file

If all you wish to do is to have a look at the xml.gz file, usually any compression \ decompression software will be able to decompress the file. winzip, 7-zip and so on.
Assuming you wish to do it programatically, according to the computer language you are using:
in C# there is a class to handle compression and decompression of gz files:
GZipStream Class
in php usually gzopen will do the trick.
php gzfile

I believe most of scripting and computer languages has a way to handle compressions.
Hope my  2 cents were helpful.

Indeed like the poster before said most zip capable programs will be able to extract the xml file that is in there. the xml itself you can open with any modern browser.
To make it easier to read you can use programs like xml copy editor. But it shouldn't be rocket science.

This may work if file was still on internet and I have ownership of file.

I have a related question where file is on my windows desktop and I am trying to open file.
