iPhone 6 touch unresponsive only in some cases

I got my wife's old iPhone 6 when she upgraded. it worked perfectly. After I put my data on it, then upgraded the firmware, now my touch is not responsive, but only when it is in portrait mode, and only is about half of the apps (mostly native apps)

When I try to install profiles for my data and xfinity wifi, I cannot click install or back. Facebook won't let me post status updates, and  to be completely honest, it's driving me crazy. I've wiped it a few times, and I can't get past the initial setup if I try to set up the phone as a new one. Any suggestions?

Did you replace the SIM card in the phone?  You probably need to. I suggest you take the phone to Apple, have them check the SIM card and reset it to factory. They have tools that you and I do not have.

It isn't a SIM card issue.

I would get Apple to service the phone even if they need to do a complete reinstall

they came back and said it was a third party screen and it won't work on anything. Unfortunately, I am aware it is not a 3rd party screen (i replace screens often) and the issue only occurs on some apps. They couldn't not give me a reasonable answer, and a reset did not work.

again, original screen. There is nothing wrong with the screen itself. I've even connected it to another iphone 6.

At this point, I would try a reset back to factory specifications. If that is what you think you did and that did not work, then the machine has a hardware problem and needs to be replaced.

It wouldn't be a hardware issue because it works on some apps. The firmware was updated to a beta firmware and reset. My assumption is the beta has an issue. However, I nor Apple can back it to original firmware.

I'm sorry, how long have you done IT?  You have only repeated things that I have ruled out.

If you do not think it is hardware, then return the phone to factory defaults.

I have an iPhone SE (6s) that people could not hear me properly when I spoke but I could hear them. Ultimately Apple replaced the phone and it worked fine.

What you describe is either damaged operating system (restore to factory) or a hardware / screen issue. There is not much else.

(I replace screens often)    <--- I would also classify a repair issue as a hardware issue.

"I replace screens often" also means that I can tell the difference between original hardware and replacement

True, but that does not rule out hardware gone bad in your phone.

I'm sorry, how long have you done IT?     <-- You are highly skilled in saying what is NOT wrong. Great.  We need to focus on what is wrong and if not software then there is some hardware issue in the phone. And as noted, that has happened to me.

I cannot help you further, so I will let someone else try.

"After I put my data on it, then upgraded the firmware"

What is the version of the new firmware?
iPhone

The iPhone is a smartphone made by Apple Inc. It and the iPad, along with several other mobile devices from Apple, run on the iOS operating system, which has its own topic, as does the iPad for device-specific questions. Native iOS applications are written in Objective-C or in Swift using the Cocoa Touch frameworks or HTML5 compiled with the help of a package manager such as Adobe PhoneGap; a common IDE is Xcode.
