esxi 6.5 timezone change ... where and how?

We have no vcenter, just a local ESXi 6.5 (dell) host that is insisting on UTC ... the old-school ssh routing to go edit the timezone doesn't seem to work (i presume my google-fu is turning up references to pre-6.5 that no longer apply).

i have windows servers insisting on syncing to the host, and they're all pulling UTC time instead of east coast ...

is there a way to fix that?  i'm having a hard time finding a way to do that via SSH or other mechanism.

Do not sync VMs with the HOST!

1. Sync VMs with External Time Source (internet), and if Windows AD PDC make sure this syncs with External Time Source.

Sync ESXi to external time source as  1 above.

As for Time Zones on ESXi.

There is no time zone support for ESXi.

see here

(there was for ESX, and ESXi is not technically Linux)

Verify that the vCenter Server Appliance is successfully deployed and running.

If you are using Internet Explorer, verify that TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 are enabled in the security settings.

In a Web browser, go to the vCenter Server Appliance Management Interface, https://appliance-IP-address-or-FQDN:5480.
Log in as root.
The default root password is the password you set while deploying the vCenter Server Appliance.
