Server 2012 R2 Evaluation

I just installed Server 2012 R2 Standard Evaluation with all updates
what are my options getting a license for this server without having to reinstall 2012? I asked at Mychoicesoftware.com but they claim I may or may not have to reinstall 2012 if I purchase a license from them.

I don't know if you can purchase a retail or OEM license and get it to work.  You can purchase a volume license for server 2016 and then, once you've signed in/setup your account in the Volume License Service Center, you can get keys for 2012.  You would then use DISM to change the edition from eval to standard and install the new key provided by Microsoft.

HOWEVER, there is at least ONE (maybe more) scenario where you cannot convert from Eval to standard under any circumstance.  I *THINK* it's in the case of DCs.
