Delay configuration in postfix

Hi Experts,
I have  a mail server and mails to external domain mails are routed through another postfix mail server. I need to configure delay for 5-10 mins when any of the users under mydomain send mails to external domain. whereas mydomain mails should deliver without any delay. I have tried default_destination_rate_delay, but it didn't reach upto my expectations.

please clarify, you want to have delay injected into a message?
commonly, as soon as a message enters the queue it tries to be sent out.
It might be easier to approach the issue by providing a solution to the reason you are looking at introducing the delay in the first place.

the processing is similar, a message comes in, it is classified as remote or local and processed accordingly.
a delay is introduced when the first connection attempt is not ....

are you lookig to audit outgoing messages ...

Hi Arnold,
Basically if any employees send a mail by mistake to our client. I need to stop it from the mail queue . Current configuration delays mail for incoming and outgoing mails in the relay host as it is checking for concurrent destination.

Do you want a system that any outgoing email to external domain is delayed until approved, authorized?

No need of approval delay for 5 mins, so in case i can delete that particular mail from mail queue. But it should not affect the incoming mails.

If you take your approach, 5-10 minute delay, then your entire job will turn into reading email.

I suggest you take arnold's suggestion an setup an authorization/release system for all email.

Then once every hour or day or whatever frequency you like, someone can read every email + release or deny each email.

hi ,
frankly speaking I don't want to read all the mails, just I need to make delay in my relay host server. the setting which I tried was default destination delay rate. It affects my incoming mails which is transported from relay server to on premises server.

What is the point behind a five minute delay? For the person who hit send, to notify you that they erred and for you to hunt down the message?
You either have an approval sustem, or have the people take ownership of what they send.
Commonly, the sender is told that they erred by sending  an email by one of the other recipients.
