Dell Sonicwall - VPN Download Limits

I have several colleagues complaining that when they are on VPN - when they download something - the download stop in around 75mb.  It then gives a network error.  Users can resume the download - but again causing issues.

Is there a setting in Dell Sonicwall restricting this?

Pretty sure there is no GPO setup

Yes, there are many security mechanisms in your firewall that will thwart the download of executable files - that is actually part of its purpose.

First off, what is the model have you dialed in your MTU on the SonicWALL? If you need direction on MTU please look here:

Secondly, security mechanisms that could block executables depend on if you have an active security subscription service. Do you?

If so, any of these security services could block executables GAV, GAS, IPS, CFS, Geo-IP, Botnets, even checksum enforcement could do this.

To test, you could go to Zones and remove all Security columns for VPN and see if the issue persists. If it persists then a) is the VPN in Tunnel All Mode and b) look to a more localized issue  like endpoint AV/security services on the machines. After your testing re-enable the security services for the VPN Zone, look at the logs and post what you are seeing during this issue.

You can also perform a Packet Capture while the download is occurring to see what is exactly blocking it.
