I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Well they keep on moving the feature comparison so I cannot find the one page I had in mind, but this one has detailed comparison between the different EMS editions: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/cloud-platform/enterprise-mobility-security-pricing

Now, Azure Information Protection is the "next version" of Microsoft's Rights Management solution, which allows you to encrypt documents and files, label them and share them securely with internal or external parties. The "encrypt" portion is included with O365 plans, what you get in addition with the AIP plan 1 is the "label" part. For automation, there is the AIP plan 2.

AAD Premium on the other hand offers a lot of features compared to the "basic" option we have with O365, as detailed here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/active-directory/
In particular, all the self-service features require AAD Premium Plan 1, as well as some of the management/reporting features.

Microsoft’s new Cloud App Security – this can help you discover the cloud apps in use in your network, and control access to those apps. (For instance, it will inform you of which 3rd party services an employee may be using without authorisation).
