Windows 10 start menu not working, Edge not working, Paint not working, etc.

At home, Windows 10 start menu isn't working, Edge won't open from my Taskbar, Internet Explorer is frozen, MS Paint won't open from the Task Bar, I can't open Task Mgr from Cmd nor after Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del and then pressing Task Mgr.

This all of a sudden, really nice PC - HP Envy, I can't even get the details because Right-Click on Start --> Systems isn't working either. When I press System it just goes away.

I'm very careful, no idea what this could be and tried a couple of things with no luck.

This link seemed the best, but I can't launch task mgr so I can't run powershell with Admin privileges. I've already re-booted as well.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That is a lot not working.  Do a Windows 10 Repair Install as that should fix most of it.

Go to the Media Creation Link

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Windows 10 is running, so click on the Download button (not Upgrade Button, select Open (Run) but NOT Save. Allow the program to run. Allow drivers to update. Then select Keep Everything.

I'm sorry for the delay. After several re-boots, I'm back online. Reset McAfee and also Malwarbytes. So far so good.

John H - good to know, I will refer to this as needed.

John T - are you saying re-format the whole thing?

nobus - thanks as well, I'll keep this link at the ready.
