Cannot send pictures in AOL email

A customer of mine has a desktop computer running windows 8 and using AOL as her web browser & Email.  AOL disabled her older version of AOL as they said they no longer supported it and so she had to install the latest version of AOL. Now, when she goes to a picture she wants to email to someone, and she clicks on "email" at the top, it will attach the picture to the draft but the send button is disabled.  ( I attached a screen shot showing you what I mean)  How can we fix this issue?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

According to the screenshot, the user has not filled in the Send To email address. Try filling that in first. Maybe it is just a change in procedure.

Follow the message at the bottom about email security. Check AOL settings for attachments. The new version will be different

Here is an AOL Knowledgebase article with reasons why attachments cannot be sent. I would start with Settings.

update:
I discovered that the customer still had the old version of aol installed and the mail attachment was going to that old version.  so I un-installed that.  now when i click on a picture and select "sent to" and "mail recipient" I get the message, "there is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panal."  So I went to the default programs list and set aol desktop gold as the default program (there was no option for aol email that I could see) but that did not help either.  I still get the same error message.

See if perhaps Office is also installed. Look in Windows Default App in the Windows 8 appropriate tile and see if AOL has been selected.

Try uninstall all AOL programs, restart and install just the newest version.

An added note:
If I go into aol desktop and select "write" and "Attach File", select the file from a folder it will work fine.  But this customer is an older lady and she just cannot catch on to that way since she has always done the other way and she wants to keep on doing it that way.
It seems to me that there  is an answer to this.

So the new version is working after all that, and since it is new and AOL changed it, the lady will have to adapt. We all have to, so perhaps just help her through it.

You cannot put on old AOL face on the new AOL program.
