<li>First, open the Windows Live Mail application.</li>
<li>Then, go to File»Export and select Messages tab.</li>
<li>From the Export dialogue box, select Microsoft Exchange tab.</li>
<li>Next, select the folders that need to be migrated from Windows Live Mail to PST File.</li>
<li>Finally, close the Export wizard.</li>

<li>First, Open the Outlook Mail client.</li>

I think my question wasn't particularly accurate because I didn't really need to migrate anything as the email account was a hosted IMAP account for which I was able to obtain the IMAP and SMTP server details. I attempted to configure Outlook.com but didn't find it very friendly to I reverted to using emClient with a single free user licence. Once emClient was installed and configured, all the user's email was syncronised with the laptop.
