needing AT&T diagnostic and troubleshooting application which can be downloaded to my laptop

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

From time to time, I have contacted AT&T via phone whenever I needed technical assistance with my cable, internet, and wireless services.  It is my understanding though that an app can be downloaded which will test the equipment and even restart it if need be for troubleshooting purposes.  Given this information, I am wondering if there is an online link which can be reached to download an AT&T diagnostic and troubleshooting application to my laptop which can test and even fix my AT&T equipment when there is a need to do so.

On a side note,  the device I wish to download the AT&T diagnostic and troubleshooting package to is a laptop running Window 10.  If any specific information or clarification is needed, please feel free to let me know.

           Thank you.

It is unlikely they will give you their testing and linkup tools. They would license these and then will not just hand them to you.

If they have a diagnostic app (like Lenovo Quick Diagnostics) that they will give you, a quick call will get it.

If they tell you they have a diagnostic tool for every computer made, I would tend not to believe that. Probably they have a diagnostic tool that can test your connection. Windows has tools embedded in it to do this, so I could understand that.

I would not expect much from a telecom company for fixing non-telecom problems with your computer.

Be wary that some tech says "yes we can help - we will reinstall Windows for you"

Assuming that there is such software, and that it does what is claimed -- you still would not be able to use it.  It would run from their side of the network and as such you could not get into the company side of your interface without simulating either an ADSL or fiber optic connection.

I do sympathize with your position, though.  I'm stuck with AT&T ADSL, and I can confidently state that they have the worst customer service there is, bar none (and that includes the U.S. government.)

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

Using the link given by dbrunton, I was able to go through the necessary steps from the television to fix my issue.   From the remote, I selected Menu, then, Help, then, Troubleshoot.  A new screen popped up asking which AT&T service was giving issues.  I selected Television.   After AT&T troubleshooter ran its diagnostics and restarted the receiver, I now have audio output when viewing both, live and recorded tv.

                Thanks again for the link.

Sorry for omitting the link.  It is https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/u-verse-high-speed-internet/KM1010080  The step by step procedures were easy to follow and permitted resolution to my technical concern which was no audio when viewing recorded and live television.  All of the troubleshooting was handled with the AT&T remote control.
