SUMIFS formula with Wildcard does not work.

please see attached.

i need help to make my sumifs formula work.

i tried wrapping that PRODUCT range inside INDEX with "" so that it gets changed inside the formula to text format
=SUMIFS(D2:D9,A2:A9,2011,INDEX(C2:C9&"",),"7*")

Open in new window

. but somehow it returns value error and did not work.
my boss asked me explicitly use of SUMIFs and not SUMPRODUCT. becuase she does not know SUMPRODUCT and gets confused with it.  ʅ_(ツ)_ʃ

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If all PRODUCTs are 9 digits long, you can use this....

=SUMIFS(D2:D9,A2:A9,2011,C2:C9, ">=700000000",C2:C9, "<800000000")
