"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'm not sure if it has any specific name in iPhone,  but it is a Progress bar / Progress Circle or a Circle Progress bar as noted by Scott.

It just is the IOS way of showing a progress bar (windows). It fills slowly for a big update, rapidly for a small update and not at all for IOS updates (that is a different thing and I do these updates via iTunes because that is better for multiple phones.

In the UI developer guide from Apple, only App Icon is mentioned.

https://developer.apple.com/ios/human-interface-guidelines/icons-and-images/app-icon/

Have a look of the link below of a good article of UI design in mobile devices for details.

So, it is called a loading app icon or just loading icon in iOS.

https://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search&q=Loading%20app%20icon&product=&doctype=¤tPage=1&includeArchived=false&locale=en_US&src=support_searchbox_main&type=organic

If you search for loading app icon in Apple Support website, you will see the relevant threads.
