Need advice regarding installing a USB 3.0 card onto an old, Dell Desktop computer

I have an old, Dell Desktop computer (2008) which works fine.  Recently I purchased a 256GB flash drive to contain backups of my external hard drive.  Copying files/folders from my external drive to the flash drive takes forever (24+ hours).  It finally dawned on me the desktop has USB 2.0 ports.   I went out to the Amazon site, looking for USB 3.0 cards, but none of them have good ratings.  I also realized I would require a USB 3.0 flash drive.  I also know I should probably upgrade to a new desktop or tablet, but can't afford it right now.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

it depends on the PCI slot that is provided on your Motherboard.  if it is  PCI bus, it can't provide enough bandwidth for USB 3.0.

Thanks.

Don't know if my original comment came through, so I will repeat it here.

Your comment made a lot of sense and I guess its time for me to consider a new computer.

Thanks for your prompt reply and your help.

Just check your PCI slot ( Read Motherboard Manual ),  if it's speed is less than 4 GBps then it can't provide enough bandwidth for USB 3.0.
