aris game server

I was asked to set up an aris game server. I am not sure where to start.  Here is the git hub page I was pointed to. I assume this is supposed to run on linux?  I know how to set up a linux server, create users, install apps, and a few other things.  Can anyone give me some direction with how I can get this up and running?

Here is the git hub page I was pointed to.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Just follow the instructions in the install section + if you have problems, open a GitHub issue.

Well I did look at them and I did not understand them so I came to ask a question here for help. Your comment was not helpful for me either.  I am not sure if you were actually trying to help.

Unsure what's unclear.

You ssh into your machine or container + complete each of the six steps listed.

If these steps fail, then open a GitHub issues with the project stating your specific problem + they will expand/clarify their install steps.

Judging by the listed steps, my guess is around 2min setup time.

I'm reading their instructions again.

Maybe you're not a GitHub user, so there is one explicit step missing which is common to all GitHub based projects...

You have to install the project first, either from the master zip file or a clone, as in this command.

1) cd /top-dir-you-like

2) git clone https://github.com/ARISGames/server.git aris-game-server.git

3) cd aris-game-server.git

4) git pull (each time you'd like to pull updates)

5) Inside this directory issue listed commands.

6) The reference to aris server in the <aris server>/services/v2/autocrud/index.html line means you must arrange for this directory to be net accessible. So in this case you might prefer doing your git clone as follows...

a) cd to some running Apache instance DocumentRoot, let's say it's for https://foo.com

b) git clone https://github.com/ARISGames/server.git aris-game-server

7) At this point you'd reference the link via https://foo.com/aris-game-server

Unsure how to their instructions could be any more simple.
