syncing once again

I have taken all 3 laptops and reimaged them with windows 7 pro. He is on a network in hi house. From what he says, he wants all of his devices to be synced to where when he is working on laptop downstairs it will sync his data to the other 2 laptops. I also believe he wants his iPhone to be synced as well so when someone sends an email to his phone it also shows up on his laptops and I am sure he needs to have outlook installed. I have asked him if he has a Microsoft account but he has yet to find this out. Today I talked to the company that takes care of his network and will be talking to them tomorrow to gather more information. What should I be asking them in order to sync all his laptops, and iPhone up?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I don’t know with which data he works but cloud solution or network share which he can access from any laptop or phone would be anway here.
About the emails, is Exchange used? If yes then configure exchange access on each device (outlook) and apple mail on iphone. Of a normal web mail is used - configure email client on each device to get te mails without deleting them on server.

He just responded. He uses outlook. I will run outlook on his laptops. How would you configure outlook email client to get emails without deleting them on the server? I will also check Google to see what they say. I just trust what you guys come up with. a lot of what I read on Google is good but they never really get to exactly what I want. That is why I love this site. I get exactly what is right to do without mudding the waters.

What outlook version?
Download, but don't remove your messages from the POP3 mail server

Select File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
On the E-mail tab, select the POP3 email account, and then select Change.
Select More Settings.
On the Advanced tab under Delivery, select the Leave a copy of messages on the server check box.

If you can use IMAP or exchange connection.

Do not use POP it is just going to cause a Huge Mess, you will have messages in varying different states all over the place.

I have found out he belongs to a church network so I need to talk to those guys who run the network and see what the server is to attach. to. Since I found out he belongs to a church network, I need to contact them to let them know his computer name so he can become part of the network. I will contact them to let them know his laptop has been re-imaged and has a new name on the laptop so he can join the domain. I will also ask them the server name for exchange and then I can configure his outlook. All this work to figure this out until I went down in his basement and saw he was connected to a network. He did not know. Hew is a priest and made a huge mistake and upgraded to windows 10 pro after he saw a message from Microsoft then started getting the error his license was invalid. I think I now have a grip on what is going on and when he joins the domain I should then be able to sync all his devices.

My instructions concerning POP3 were just an example. Without knowing exact information about users’ configuration I can hardly give precise instructions.

I totally understand and that is how I felt after I located his network. You do need all the variables to put this mess I have together. Now that I know what I am dealing with I can start to put it together. I will contact the manager or company that runs the network, find out the domain do add this laptop to, configure outlook and then I can work on the sync issue. It will be much easier to do that with all you help when he his not on a work group. Had I known this from the beginning it would have been easier on you all and myself. It all started out with him telling me that someone or some shop fixing his laptop and it never worked after that. I only just looked downstairs as I had to get the security password off the router to connect the laptop and that is when I saw the network setup. I will contact the company who set him up and get the domain name and the name of the exchange server and then get back to you again. I wish I had checked this first but I assumed and that doomed me. At least now it is starting to make sense as to why nothing could be synced.
