Azure AD question

I have a few basic questions on Azure AD:
- How can I run separate domains on Azure? What is best practice?
- What are the different AD options for Azure? (AAD vs AAD)?
- To federate or not to federate? pros/cons

Thank you in advance for your help.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes you can add within Azure management Studio...
Best practice for what? It depends what you try to archive.

I guess the following descriptions gives you a good overview about the AAD Options.

I guess it is not an option of pro/cons rather than the question, where you are and where you want to be in the future. In earlier times, servers were all locally and later the companies decide to move to the cloud. So at least for a defined time, a federation / synchronization between local service and cloud based services is needed to move services without outages. Also not all services are available in the cloud so it can take years, until a complete transition is done and all services are available and setup in the cloud. As a lot of objects (i.e. users) have a unique ID and are connected to services and permissions, they have to be synchronized with the cloud AD.
The alternative is to start with a complete clean environment in cloud and create everything new. Not realy an option for larger companies.
