Delete Firefox

Hi, I have used Firefox for years and all of the sudden it won't open.  I went to delete it in the Control Panel and it won't let me because it says it must be closed before I can delete it but I can't see any evidence of it being open.  I want to delete it so that I can re-install it.  What do I do? Thanks

Hi Camtz. Can you post some screenshots of the errors?
Can you check task manager to see if firefox.exe is running.
Try rebooting and then uninstalling again

Restart your PC and try uninstalling Firefox.


Open Task Manager. (Ctrl+Alt+Del)

Go to processes tab.

Right click on anything related to firefox and select End Process.

then try uninstalling Firefox.


Download the tools mentioned in this link from Microsoft and run it,

Try System Restore to restore your setting back to the state it was working fine and Firefox had no problem.
