Why would this word document show a different layout in different Word versions?
See word documents attached. One of them is opened in 2010 and the other is opened in 2013. The one with 2013 appears to be correct while the other's 2010 version is incorrect. The fonts are the same. Is there anything that can be done to resolve this or why might this be the case?

Which version was it created in?
It looks as if page 1 overflowed differently between the two. Are they both using the same printer driver?.
Text flow can be controlled with settings on the Line and Page breaks tab.
Also check the Word Options> Advanced>>Layout settings

I think you'll need to change the Text wrapping settings in Word 2010 to match it With how you see it in Word 2013.
After watching the video go directly to Changing text wrapping settings Title.

In addition to the above, the default paper size may not be the same. 8.5x11 will format differently from A4.

If it's created in 2013, does that mean 2010 would handle the layout differently and not how a user wants it to be?
if you are going from a newer version to an old version I would assume the formatting will be off. If you are going the other way around then it should not change anything.
I realise that the document may be confidential. If it isn't could you attach it. (Perhaps you could truncate if after the second page)

That's correct.
