Need to reverse engineer SQL Server database to create ER Diagram so user can view it without the software. so I am looking at html export or something similar.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you tried using the tool built in to Microsoft SSMS?

No with this you cannot export to HTML.

>>will user need SSMS installed to view it?
Yes the user needs to Install the SSMS. The ER diagram from the this is not so useful.

I suggest you to go for powerdesigner from SAP.
https://www.sap.com/india/products/powerdesigner-data-modeling-tools.html
Note - I have personally used this, it is free for 30 days and if you request you can extend that for 6 months. It is very easy to use and can be used with any database (RDBMS)
This time should be fine for you to create the diagram and use it. You can also export to HTML and you can also create the data dictionary from this in HTML format.

OR ERWIN.

You can copy and ER diagram and paste it into Paint and save as an image file.

Or you can print to PDF or XPS.

The ER Diagrams are large in size and cannot be fit in the paint. Even there are 10 tables it will not fit. Honestly this method is not useful.
