Migrate Windows Server 2008 R2 to Server 2016

Hi Experts,

Is there any step by step migration guide for from Server 2008 R2 (with Exchange 2010 installed) to Server 2016?

We have an old virtual Server 2008R2 has basically everything installed, including AD, DNS and DHCP server, Exchange 2010 server, and now it needs to be upgraded.
I know that Microsoft doesn't recommend installing Exchange with AD in late versions, so we will have AD server and Exchange 2016 installed separately on two virtual machines. is there any step by step guide for this task?

Cheers,
Frank

need to start by getting exchange off that box since you can't demote it with exchange installed...you will need to migrate to a newer version of exchange since 2010 won't work on anything above server 2012

HOW TO MIGRATE FROM MICROSOFT EXCHANGE 2010 TO EXCHANGE 2016

then build your new domain controller (do this after migrating exchange since exchange 2010 does not support 2016 domain controllers)

Upgrade Domain Controllers to Windows Server 2016
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/deploy/upgrade-domain-controllers

AD/DNS will migrate over once the 2016 server is promoted.  you will need to migrate your dhcp scope(s) manually

once the domain controllers are working nicely together, shut off the 2008 r2 server for a few days to see if there is anything left over that needs to be fixed first.  if not, turn the server on and cleanly demote it (dcpromo)
