Adding language to Windows 7 Pro

Hi

I'm trying to add a language (Russian) to a users Windows 7 Pro 64bit sp1 7601 (originally in French)

I can't find the language options in Windows Updates (even after update search)

I downloaded a language pack for MS Office 2016 and that installed properly

But I can't find a language pack to enable the Russian characters/alphabet in Windows

I downloaded language pack but the installation doesn't run

I tried with Vistalizator to install the language pack but get an error at the en of the installation

I don't want to obtain a Russian Windows environment, just a Windows that can display and type Russian characters, and provide
spellchecking in Office apps

Any ideas please ?

thanks
yann

Go to start >> Control panel >> Region and language >> Administrative >> Change system local >> Select Russian
OK.
OK.
Restart the PC.

Then go to start >> Control panel >> Region and language >> Keyboard and language >> Change keyboard >> Add >> Expand the Russian and from Keyboard check the Russian.
Ok.
OK.
OK.

Note: you can use Alt+shift to switch between  keyboard languages.

Followed your advice but no improvement

It's strange because when I had the french and english keyboard layouts available, switching from one to the other had no effect : the french keyboard was always the only active layout

There is no language pack for Windows 7 Pro.  it is available only for Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 or Windows 7 Enterprise Service Pack 1.

But I can't find a language pack to enable the Russian characters/alphabet in Windows
Because it's not available for Windows 7 Pro.

Side Note: I'm sure you must be able to add a Russian keyboard to your system and easily type Russian, then you may want to install Russian fonts to use in Office or Other programs.
language pack will change the  Windows environment language and I'm sure  you don't want it as you noted above. the only thing that can prevent you to install Russian keyboard is a CORRUPTED Windows / Corrupted USER Profile.

Suggestion:  Create a new user account as Administrator >> switch into it and do the steps in my PREVIOUS POST. RESTART and TEST.
or try a Windows 7 Repair Install or a Windows 7 fresh install.

Hello There

Official sources says that Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise only.

To change your language environment in Windows 7 you have to reinstall your OS with an installation media that contains the specific language.

I created a new profile and obtained the same result : when changing keyboard layout e.g. EN the layout actually remains as FR

Hello there
Like I said above I have no intention or desire to change the  Windows working environment language

I discovered something this morning when the user thanked me for adding the russian language support

In fact I was managing the request via Teamviewer, and Teamviewer actually handles keyboard layout mapping

i.e. My computer is in Azerty; therefore Teamviewer maps this layout to the remote computer, whatever the local layout that was currently selected on the remote computer

thanks for your help
