4 workstations and 1 server.  No domain.

No router.

Static IPs.

I swear that the NIC on the server had the same IP address and gateway but that won't take.

How do I set up the NIC on the server?  The workstations cannot hit it any longer.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is unclear.
The NIC on the server had the same IP address as WHAT?
It has the same gateway as WHAT?
If there's no router then what IS the gateway?

I can make a rash assumption just to try to save time:
The server *is* the gateway and the router for this network.
It has 2 NICs - one for the public address and one for the LAN.
The server LAN NIC is the gateway.  If so, it should not be configured with a gateway address at all.
Is DHCP running?  If so, what is it providing re: addresses e.g. gateway address?

Does this help?  I hope so.

Fred... you are spot on.  No DHCP.  Lan NIC is gateway.   All 5 of the workstations show the server IP address as the gateway.

That should fix things.
