Placeholder Form Issue

I'm running into an issue with the Salient Wordpress theme.

On my contact form, after successful submit it resets the form, but the placeholders don't come back.  I tried putting in custom code to set the placeholders after successful submit but even that isn't working. It shows in the code it it, but not on the screen.

I think there is some theme code in here doing that.  Any way to work around it?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Before you use any theme. Make sure there are no embedded backdoors.

I'm very familiar with Salient + having to inform clients they can't host with me if they require using this theme.

Take a look at http://themecheck.org/?q=Salient for this theme.

Try installing the following plugins on your site + before you do any work with a theme, make sure your theme passes all backdoor checks.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-check

https://wordpress.org/plugins/tac

Also, be doubly careful of themes which tell you to ignore the output of Theme Check + TAC, as these almost always contain the worst backdoors.

You might be able to debug this yourself by enabling WP_DEBUG + recreating the problem + analyzing your WordPress debug log.

This type of behavior tends to be time consuming to debug.

I suggest you open a Gig + hire someone to assist you.

Also, start with a stable, backdoor-free theme. Salient... well... you can test it yourself with two plugins I list above + see running this theme can give access to your site to hackers, most likely the actual Salient theme developers.
