Alignment Page Not Detected

I have an HP Photosmart D110 printer.  Recently I put in a new black ink cartridge, printed an alignment page,  then placed the printed alignment page face down on the scanner.  The printer came back with a message stating it could not detect the alignment page.  I have installed hundreds of cartridges without a problem until now.  Could it have anything to do with the type of paper I'm using?

I tried a different type of paper after going to the HP website you mentioned.  Still get the same error.  I give up.  It isn't that important since I can scan other documents fine and print just fine.
