SharePoint 2013 Client Credential Prompt (within Browsers)

We are running into an odd situation with SharePoint 2013. We have 50 licenses, do not exceed these. We are noticing any new users, or specifically users who have taken their laptop home and worked over VPN, or users across VPN through a domain trust- they all are prompted to log credentials into the browser they are using when accessing SharePoint.

What do we need to do to fix this?

It may be that the VPN client does not allow browser pass through authentication. Also, when the users are connected via VPN, how are they logged in to the laptop? The browser and VPN may be passing through the credentials to SharePoint, but credentials that are not expected.

Well here is the odd thing. I took a laptop in question, mine, brought it into the office- readded to the domain and its been hardwired since. still prompting for credentials.

VPN users are logged into the laptop as if they were in the building and connect via their local credentials which would be the AD account on our domain.

Then check browsers to make sure that the browser allows pass through authentication. Also, this only works with MSIE, not with Firefox or Chrome.

These are all configured correctly and we use IE and Chrome, both are doing the same thing .
