1. First option is Araxis Merge. I have used it personally and it is a very good option-  https://www.araxis.com/merge/download.en , You can use it for 30 days.

2. Another option could be NOTEPAD++ Compare Plugin, That will also help in comparing files.

3. Another option could be online https://www.diffchecker.com/

Personally I am a long time user of Beyond Compare and have found it very useful for comparing files and folders.  As well as the command line capability allowing it to be used in scripting.  While there is a cost, for me it has been a good investment.

I have looked at several alternatives in the past, a few of which have been mentioned above.  In addition a couple more very strong offerings that are free or have a free version are linked below, hope this helps.

ExamDiff - The freeware visual file compare tool

Bill - look just above : suggested by me Winmerge

Clearly I hadn't gotten enough coffee this morning...

I actually have a short list of these utils from a number of years ago, some free, some paid, so referred to that to provide feedback.  A few were paid, and a couple were no longer existing, and somewhere in that process I lost track of what was already mentioned.

That being said, I think the fact that it has two 'votes' now is a good thing, it's a good tool for free and hope it can be useful to the author.
