Speed up Openvas Scans

I am running an Openvas Scan on Kali Linux with the default "Full and Fast" template.

I scan a C class Network containing approx 50 deivices/webapplications.

Scanning started 3 days ago and it is at 50% now.

How can I speed up such scans?

Is it possible at all without losing the details?

Maybe settings some timeouts shorter?

Complex question. Many factors come into play.

If I was trying to answer this question, I'd join the OpenVAS Users Mailing List + post your question there. Likely they'll instantly know how to speed up your scan.

That said, you can also likely run OpenVAS in some sort of low level debug mode against one machine. Determine where you're bottleneck occurs on one machine... like say for example, maybe it's OS fingerprinting or whatever OpenVAS does which eats up time.

This split off this scan into a separate OpenVAS job/script or optimize the scan so it runs fast.

For example, nmap can be accomplish the same type of scan in many various ways - fast or medium or slow speed.

Likely OpenVAS provides similar tuning.
