VMWare Vsphere Client V5.5 - Oracle Linux - install static IP address

On a host I created a Oracle Linux guest VM, can someone tell me how I can add a static IP address to this individual VM.

Do I have to install any additional software.

Thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

i did setup long time ago with the help of following link

I hope it will work for you as well

https://oracle-base.com/articles/linux/linux-network-configuration

You should edit the file: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and then put something like the following:
IPADDR=192.168.0.101
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY=192.168.0.1
DNS1=8.8.8.8

ifdown eth0 && ifup eth0
ifconfig eth0

Make sure you also install VMware Tools!

see my EE Article

Part 9: HOW TO: Install VMware Tools for Linux on a VMware Linux virtual machine on a VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 (ESXi 5.1) Host Server

this is also valid for ESXi 5.5.
