What does ApplePay cost the merchant?

I know a merchant who would like to offer ApplePay, but really does not like the high fees he pays already for Visa and MasterCard.

What does it cost him to offer ApplePay? Is it a percent of the purchase price? That is the way it works for credit cards.

Thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Seems hard to get a clear idea online.

Reading Apple's online docs, they seem purposely vague.

Likely best to get in touch with Apple directly, as there are no fixed fees.

Instead fees are set based on merchant standing + sales amount + sales frequency.

All in all, I'd say just stick with PayPal or your bank for running credit cards.
