I set up port forwarding on a Cisco RV320 router so I could rdp to a pc on the network. When I turn off the firewall it works. If I leave the firewall enabled it doesn’t.  I’ve tried setting an access rule with no success.  Any suggestions as to what I could be missing?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You are not talking about the Windows Firewall, I suppose?

You clearly seem to be talking about Windows Firewall.

Does it work if you try from inside the network and with the firewall on? If not, the problem clearly revolves around ports in Windows Firewall. So the question becomes what port(s) are you using. If you have Remote Desktop turned on and using not using 3389, then you need to specifically open it up in Windows Firewall.

However, RDP is not a secure protocol. You may want to look into other solutions like RD Gateway or LogMeIn.
