Securing Connection between Samba Server and Workstations

We have 20 Windows workstations connected to a our network any only 10 should have access to the Samba share drives, is there a way to secure the connection to the server with SSH certificates or something similar to this this. I know I can set the IP's that can connect to the server is smb.conf but I wanted something a bit more secure if this is possible.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Just wrap your Samba Server in a free https://LetsEncrypt.org SSL cert... then use...

http://www.oreilly.com/openbook/samba/book/appa.pdf, or one of the many other guides, which describe how to secure your Samba Server with an SSL certificate.

Then each client connection is secure.

You have to define what "more secure" means to you
You can limit the access by ip as you mentioned as well as require user credentials which could be tied to AD (ntlm)
Configuring IPSec rules via GPO to secure/encrypt the connection/path......

another bit is to make sure when you are setting up a samba share, you create specific users who only have access to the specific samba shares. Either with Write, execute or Read capability.

Avoid using connecting to samba share with user logins accounts.
