JPEG: Need to reduce resolution of many images

I have a bunch of JPG's and need to reduce their file sizes significantly. What tool can do this for me?

I also have PNG files which I need to convert into small JPG files. Is there a tool for each?

Check out my EE article on that subject:
Reduce the file size of many JPG files in many folders via an automated, mass, batch compression method

The same tool, GraphicsMagick, can do that, too. Simply use the convert command with the input files being PNG and the output files being JPG. These other EE articles show how to use the convert command and some other commands, most notably, montage:

Create a PDF file with Contact Sheets (montage of thumbnails) for all JPG files in a folder and each of its subfolders using an automated, batch method
Create an image (BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG, TIF, etc.) from a multi-page PDF
Convert a multi-page PDF file into multiple image files

Thanks. I am not sure the image size reduction is making my PDF smaller...

I have a Mac. Is there a download site for the executable file for a Mac? Or, some less high powered tool? I have 185 images in one folder and need a fast solution.

I know nothing about Mac and don't know if there is a binary for it. But I do know that ImageMagick has a Mac binary:

Scroll down at that page to the Mac OS X Binary Release section. The two products have similar functionality. In fact, as noted in one of my articles, GM is a fork of IM.

I just commented there.

You're welcome! Btw, I wrote a response to your question, "Adobe will not let me download Adobe Pro even though I just bought a month!" But when I hit the Submit button, the question showed as Deleted, so I presume that you were able to get it downloaded and installed. Regards, Joe

Sorry, I gave Adobe one last try and a silent activation had taken place and i crunched my PDF down to 11.4 MB!

That's a spectacular result! Thanks for letting me know. It almost surely achieved that by compressing the images, so you should check the images to make sure that they are of acceptable may have done too good a job reducing the size. :)  You may need to play with the parameters to achieve the right mix of quality and size...the latter may wind up being something between 11 and 650 MB. :)
