Trouble compressing a PDF to less than 650 MB

In order to post my book on Amazon, I need the PDF to be less than 650 MB. I found many PNG files and cut their sizes dramatically by converting to JPG. I also reduced many JPG files' size equally drastically. But the PDF output does not get smaller.

I use Word for Mac 2017

What could the problem be?

As I recollect from past threads, you have Acrobat. If so, try this:

File
Save As Other
Reduced Size PDF...

or

Optimized PDF...

Those are available in Acrobat, not Reader.

There are a ton of options in the Optimized PDF feature (in my Acrobat XI Pro on Windows):

Acrobat optimize
I don't know if any of them will get you where you need to be, but it will likely take a lot of experimentation. I've had mixed results with it. I'm very curious how it goes for you...please let me know. Regards, Joe

You're welcome. I hope that gets the size where you need it to be for Amazon. Good luck with your book! Regards, Joe
