which companies hire people to work remotely or from home on a part-time basis?

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

I have a friend who is interested in working from home part-time which brings me to the point of this upcoming question.  Are there any legitimate companies out there which will allow people to work from the comfort of their homes on a part-time basis?  I realize this can be somewhat tricky to answer because of the high volume of online scams going on in today's world.  If there are safe companies to check into, we will certainly be interested in reviewing their needs and requirements for employment.

Any suggested online link or links to companies that permit remote or home-based employment will be greatly appreciated.

             Thank you so much.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

interesting question.   if you're good.. any company would hire you working remotely.  Lots of legitimate employers doing that.
Problem is to find a talent.

I know call centers that do this i.e. online food ordering (pizzapizza, pizzza hut, dominos, to name a few)

If your friend has experience and a good reputation, they can probably do that.  If this is for a first job... it is unlikely.

I found myself laughing at the idea of legitimate companies.

To me a legitimate companies is anyone who pays me.

I worked my first contract in 1979 + been working for myself since then.

Clients come my way through many avenues. So long as they pay, they're fine in my book.

Best to pick some skillset where you have some expertise + convert it to online clients.

Likely best for your friend to post to EE directly + they'll be given great support, mapping their skills into an online format.
