DURALABEL PRO 9000 printer not working with Windows 10

I have a label printer that is not printing when being used from a Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 operating system.  It works fine on Windows 7.  I have downloaded the latest drivers .  The printer connects and spits out the right amount of labels, there just isn't anything printed on them.

Any suggestions?  I am stumped.

What application are you using to print from?

Does the application or labels require specific fonts, and are they installed?

Your printer is not supported by Windows 10.

I am using Word 2016.  It won't even print on a test page.  Ramin - you state that it isn't supported by Windows 10.  How do you know so I can tell the boss of me.

I am reading where it doesn't show Windows 10 in the manual.  But there is an 800 number.  I will try that as well.  Thanks for the direction.

Hi Karen,
Problems like that are usually due to not having the right driver for your version and bit-level of Windows. The latest driver for the DuraLabel Pro 9000 is here:
https://rs.graphicproducts.com/files/MultiPrinterDriverInstall.exe

Graphic Products technical support told me that that download works for W8.1/32-bit, W8.1/64-bit, W10/32-bit, W10/64-bit. If it doesn't, then there may a hardware problem, and at that point I would recommend starting with a technical support "Live Chat" session at the Graphic Products website:
https://www.graphicproducts.com/labeling-and-signage/industrial-label-printers/duralabel-pro-series/#support

Here's my chat log with their technical support:
JW: Please provide a link for the W8.1/32-bit, W8.1/64-bit, W10/32-bit, and W10/64-bit drivers for the DuraLabel Pro 9000.

GP: https://rs.graphicproducts.com/files/MultiPrinterDriverInstall.exe?view=0

JW: Are you sure that supports W8.1 and W10?

GP: in some instances on Windows 10, the printer will show up in the Print Dialogue box in applications, but that can be resolved by going into "Services", and select the service "Device Setup Manager", and change its start-up type to "Automatic", then start the service.

GP: Sorry, it'll show up in print dialogue, but not in devices and printers

Note the comment about W10. Good luck getting it to work! Regards, Joe

Hi Joe,

We can get the printer to chat with the computer, it just doesn't print anything.  The labels come out blank.  Did you have the same experience?

Did you install the latest driver? If not, do it. It could also be a problem with the tape — did you try a different tape? if so and it still prints blanks, it could be a problem with the printer, but in any case, at that point I suggest contacting their technical support.

I don't have that printer.

Product support had the end user do the same thing we were doing, downloading the new driver and going from there.  Once again, the Windows 7 machines worked fine but the Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 would not print on the label.  It connected and the correct amount of labels were processed, they were just blank.  Our engineers and environmental scientist make too much money to mess around with this so we are just going to order a Windows 10 compatible printer and give this one the boot.

Thanks again for the direction everyone.  I appreciated the quick responses.

Just to follow up on this -

Steps taken:

Downloaded Seagull driver from here
https://www.seagullscientific.com/drivers/graphic%20products-windows-printer-drivers/

On each individual machine, we added an isolated instance of the networked printer and did not share it.  We are having to do this on each person’s machine but it’s working and we don’t care.  It’s on a Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10.  It is printing from a Word template that is attached to a SQL database.
