I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Did you restart your Network adapter? Is the DHCP server available?

What happens if you set up IP address manually?
venkata ramanaAuthor Commented:
rebooted the laptop many times shows connected status on switch port end

Try this
Run CMD as administrator
Connect laptop to network where you can;t get IP

try this commands

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig / release
ipconfig /renew

double check if in new VLAN there is no restrictions for connection and any MAC address filter is not enabled.

cannot set up ip address manually as having no admin privilege laptop nic no issues as obtaining ip from other vlan segments, not working when changed to this (Sit)lan segment

There is no much you can do if you're not local admin
Are you sure other devices like laptops, tablets, smartphones can connect to this network and get IP from DHCP ?
venkata ramanaAuthor Commented:
No other ports in switch assigned for this vlan , this is the first port I moved to this new vlan not works reverted back to old vlan works getting ip from dhcp
buckethead34Commented:
Is the dhcp server in the same subnet? You may need an ip helper-address command on the SVI to forward broadcasts to the dhcp server. If it's a Cisco switch see below commands

Interface vlan 100
Ip helper-address a.b.c.d

Where a.b.c.d is the IP address of the dhcp server
DP230Network AdministratorCommented:
Seems like the IP address was setup static, then it cannot change when change the VLAN.

You have to get Local admin right to troubleshoot.
