access points disappearing from Cisco 2500 Wireless Controller

I have inherited a wireless setup and could use some help.  I have access points that seem to be disappearing from my Cisco 2500 series wireless controller.  The access points are Cisco Aironet 2600 series.  I hear that I can reset the access points in a way that would allow the wireless controller to see them again, but I'm not sure how to do this.  I'd rather not lose any of the configs on these access points if it can be helped, but understand it may be necessary.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you post the log from the WLC, please?

Thank you Craig Beck, will do.  Just need some time to gather the logs.

as your APs are running over capwap and not standalone, means beeing registered at the wlc, you can reboot them with no issue at all.

Connect to the AP console and type:
"clear capwap-private config" and reboot

then monitor via console the output about dhcp and registering and you may wait for logs of deregistering also on the WLC.
