How to restore my printer to being functional when it was erroneously installed as a fax instead of a printer

I own  a PC with a printer from hp which is an OfficeJet 8610. I recently had to reinstall the printer drivers and when it finally got installed, it was erroneously installed as a FAX instead of as a printer. Then, I tried to fix this by trying to uninstall the printer driver and re-install it, and each time I did that, (I tried about 3-4 times), it came up as a FAX instead of as a printer with printing capabilities.

Can anyone here on this website explain to me the sequence of steps I must follow to reinstall the printer drivers correctly so that I can print documents with it?

I have one of these here. Works fine.   Do the following (turn off the printer first)

A. Clear the print spooler.
Right-click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator“.

Type net stop spooler then press “Enter“.
Type del %systemroot%\System32\spool\printers\* /Q then press “Enter“.
Type net start spooler then press “Enter“.
The print queue on your Windows should now be cleared.

B. Devices and Printers:  Remove the Printer.
C. Devices and Printers: Printer Server Management: Driver tab:  Delete the driver.
D. Programs and Features:  Delete the basic printer package, Help, Update and any other HP printer applications there.

Restart the computer.

Download and install the newest printer package.  OJ8610_198.exe

Separately, give the printer a static IP address on your network.
