how can I change the name and password of a wireless using iPhone 8?

Hello and Good Morning Everyone,

I wish to help a friend figure out how to change the name and password of her Comcast wireless using her iPhone 8.  Any suggestions with regards to the steps to take to achieve this goal will be appreciated.

           Thank you

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First go to the wireless router, turn it over, and find the manufacturer name and the model number.  The manufacturer will probably be Netgear, Cisco or Linksys.

Then go to a PC (the screen on the iphone will be too small to read the documentation) and download the user manual for the router.  The user manual will contain instructions on how to set the SSID / network name and the WPA password.

Then, again using the PC and for the same reason as above, go to the router's setup pages and make the required changes.

While you're in the router setup, also disable WPS, WiFi Protected Setup, as it is an easy backdoor to crack the router's security.

You need to log into the Web GUI of the Wireless and set it up. If you have never been in there, read the documentation as suggested above to gain access. I have done this lots. Hundreds of times easier on a computer than a smart phone.
