Update o365 apps/click-to-run version - (ET)

We have a number of users with o365 applications (also called click to run), many of which we found are running on an older version/update. Some are on 2013 and some are on just an older update of 2016.

Anyone know how to force an update through command line or change a registry key that will set it to auto-update?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Click to run (Subscription) is automatic already. It will run within a week of updates coming out. If you need to run updates, Office, Account, Manage Updates and Update. It will update if updates are available.

Office volume license updates with Windows Updates. If Windows is set to update, Office will update as well.

@john Hurst - That should be the case but i'm finding a number of machines that arent up to date. I'm able to use our RMM to get the current version of each pc.
@vasil - The office deployment tool wouldnt work because its already installed (that's just for new installs) and as far as group policy goes, most of these computers are not joined to a domain, unfortunately.

Office updates largely work with or are in tune with Windows Updates so you need to bring machines up to date. That will fix the problem.

I checked and most of these computers are up to date or if anything missing the december updates. I know the standard microsoft office is controlled through windows updates but i thought o365 office updates independently of that.
It could also be that some computers have the auto update in o365 turned off.

Is there no command line that would force an immediate update?

Here is a method to force Windows 10 Updates. That will bring Office along with it.

Thanks. We already have an RMM in place that manages and forces our windows updates.
I'm still testing because i dont think its connected to the windows updates like the other (non o365) version of Office is.

If Windows is fully up to date Office updates will run by themselves within 2 to 4 days of being issued. You can run manually if you need the updates faster than this
