I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'm looking for color laser, not Office Jet or Ink Jet.

it's probably not a question of finding the best, but of what is available at that price
may i ask : why is your choice limited to HP?

I support nobus' query above -- "Why HP?" -- but for a different reason.

Given a choice between any other manufacturer and HP, HP would be the last choice on my list.  HP's behavior toward their customers is shabby.  Three specifics:

  • HP expendables are outrageously priced compared to items from comparable manufacturers
  • Expiration dates on expendables means items can expire while in the printer being used
  • HP's compliance with putting hidden tracking codes on pages by government fiat

It might be argued "that's only their consumer inkjets", but imo the "we're HP and you're not" attitude probably extends through their entire printers division.

What other manufacturer and model number printers do you recommend then? I'm open to looking at other printers as well.
