Share Site with external users in Sharepoint 2013 on Premise

Hi,

I have SharePoint 2013 on premise farm.  Internal users authenticate using AD accounts . it is possible to share sites with external users ( consultants) without creating them an AD accounts ??? if there is way to do this , thanks for sharing

This expert suggested creating a Gigs project.
It is possible, but involves changes not just to the user process but also to your SharePoint farm infrastructure. For example, how will an external user access your on premise farm from the outside world? Will you place your farm directly on the internet so it can be accessed? Will you add a server and firewall to protect your intranet from the outside world? Can you set up the needed additional authentication provider that will be needed to avoid using AD accounts?

for our cas we have q fortinet firewall and the frontal web servers in DMZ zone
