NOte You cant be logged on as the user while doing this

For WIndows 10

  1. Start Windows Explorer
  2. Right click This PC and choose properties
  3. On the Left hand side click on "Advanced System Settings"
  4. Go to the Advanced Tab
  5. Locate the "User profiles group" and click on "Settings"
  6. A screen will apear with the list of profiles on the machine, select the one and choose delete

Windows 7
Right click My Computer and choose properties, follow the steps for Windows 10

When the user logs back on a fresh profile will be created.

If the profile is corrupted, just create a new one. You can create a new user, or rename the profile folder of the user to allow for recreating a default one. Depending on the OS it is either in \Documents and Settings or \Users.

I back up the contents (documents, favourites, email) securely, delete the profile, and then make a new of the same name as described above.
