Why can't I Insert a PNG into a Google Docs document?

Suddenly, I can't insert a png into my Google Doc document. It used to work before, I'm sure. But now, whether I use Insert>Image or copy and paste,  I just see a bounding box with a big exclamation mark in the middle.

It doesn't matter if I'm in Viewing or Editing mode of Docs. I'm using OS 10.11.6 and Chrome version 63.0.3239.84 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Just tried this + it works great for me.

Create new doc -> Insert -> Image -> Upload from computer or By URL both work.

Make + attach a short video showing your exact keystrokes.

Likely someone can suggest how to answer your question.

Thanks David. Yes, that should work. I've done it many times before, but for some reason I only get a bounding box now. The image is a PNG screenshot, so nothing unusual there. Here is the movie you asked for: insert-image.mov

A few things to test out:
1.) Try via a different browser (ie. safari, firefox, chrome). If the behavior is only occurring in your current browser, try clearing your cache.
2.) Try uploading the image to google drive, then inserting via "Drive" (3rd option down the sub-menu)
insert image submenu3.) Could this be internet connection related? Are you behind some strict firewall rules? Can you try via a different network?
