I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Perhaps the icons are in the "all users" area? You need admin rights to do anything to those.

Workaround may be to create a new copy of the shortcut in the right place and delete the old ones.

As above. The icons are in public desktop folder profile.
Hello ThereSystem AdministratorCommented:
The error message is entirely misleading.  Navigate to C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop and copy/move the shortcuts from the Public Desktop to your Desktop. Now you should be able to do whatever you want.

Note: the Public Desktop folder is hidden, so you have to change your View settings to display Hidden Items.

I don't understand why hello there would try and take the most points when they are just building on what I already said. Zaheer should get no points because they didn't add anything.
Recommend question be deleted since Author did not return to confirm if any of these answers helped. Author has several abandoned questions, so probably won't return anyway.

I think there is a difference between All users and Public folder. That what I added.

From my personal conversation with Community Support Moderator:

In inactive question if other answers are possible and helpful with potential and possible solution, they all should be marked.

In inactive question everybody who is right and provides correct answer should be awarded.

You told the author what's the issue but the comment 42411552 provided additional info how to resolve it which is more useful for the author.

The issue here is obvious for all as well as the solution. That's why we all should get some points.
